Hybrid office and its development in 2024

We are seeing an increase in hybrid working and the offices themselves have permanently left the established definitions within what we were used to. However, this does not mean that they are not currently fulfilling their function. However, their function has been transformed. According to the Microsoft Work Trend Index, 85% of employees would be motivated to travel to the office to build and strengthen relationships with colleagues and for collaboration. The office therefore plays a more strategic role than just a place to work. And office design is of course related to this.

Meet the new concept of the Hotelification of the Office.

The term “office hotelisation” emphasises the provision of first-class services and facilities that enhance the guest experience, in our case, the employee experience. When it comes to hotel interiors, every square metre is intended to have the potential to generate opportunities. Lobbies often include a concept store, restaurants combine coworking and corridors evoke an art gallery. This principle is slowly beginning to spill over into office design.

User habits have changed. Whether at home, at work or on the go, people are looking for experiences. Offices should therefore offer employees the facilities to create a comfortable and productive working environment.

After the pandemic, companies are trying to go the route of condensing their office space. The role of office design will therefore become even more crucial. Corporate facilities may be smaller, but they will be of a higher quality. Office interiors thus only underline the fact that this is also an important aspect for attracting and retaining new talent. Not to mention the impact of the emerging Generation Z on the job market. So what are the main advantages of hotel elements in office design?

One of the main benefits is increased employee job satisfaction. Traditional office environments often lack warmth, comfort and aesthetics. A modern office space, perhaps with amenities such as a coffee shop, fitness center or even a spa with a sauna in the office can significantly boost employee morale and motivation. This has happened, for example, with our office implementation for Pipedrive, where employees can use the games room, sauna and bar.

We can encourage productivity and collaboration through a well-designed office with hotel features. Hotels have mastered the art of creating an environment that makes people feel good, whether they are working at a desk in a room or in the lobby. Applying these principles to office design can help employees enjoy an environment that best suits their tasks and work preferences.

The trend of “hotelisation of the office” is also turning workplaces into destinations. The hybrid office and its evolution in 2024 will transform traditional, uninspiring spaces where employees merely perform their job duties into modern workplaces designed to engage and entice employees. It becomes a place where people want to be. It’s a space where work and social interaction coexist seamlessly, fostering not only productivity but also a sense of belonging and friendship. Workplace as a destination is also an example of the internationally award-winning coworking site Base4Work, which is designed to make users feel like they are in a boutique hotel.

As the workplace becomes a destination, it also responds to changing attitudes towards work-life balance. Employees no longer see the office as a separate entity from their personal lives. Instead, it becomes an integral part of their daily routine where they can not only be productive but also experience social interaction or personal growth.

Are you planning to change the interior of your offices? Why not take inspiration from hotel interiors. By making the workplace a destination in its own right, your office can be transformed from a place to work to a place where people like and thrive.

We have completed more than 150,000 m² of canneling projects. We can also help your company with the design.
