Architectural studio Perspektiv has completed the new offices of the pharmaceutical company Servier in Prague’s Florentinum district. The project represents not only an effective transition to a smaller workspace, but also an inspiring approach to how to combine corporate identity, employee satisfaction and the latest trends in office design in a modern open space environment.

The brief for the architectural design from Perspectives was based on JLL’s workplace strategy, which focused on creating an inspiring collaborative environment, using a range of place types to work in addition to the main open space areas, optimising floor space and overall employee health and wellbeing.

“The transition to open space at the beginning of the project raised concerns among some employees, which is common in the domestic environment. Our response was to involve employees in the process of creating the new working environment. By taking a participative approach, we were able to find a solution that respects the different needs while reflecting Servier‘s corporate spirit,” says Martin Stára, Managing Partner of Perspektiv Studio.

Compact, funcional and inspiring workspace

The main task of the project was to optimize the office space – from the original 1,800 m² the area was reduced to 1,100 m². However, despite the reduction in space, the emphasis was on maintaining the comfort and variability of the space.

“We wanted to create an environment where people would be happy even if they work in an open space. We divided the workspace with furniture that allows for privacy and space for focused work. A central collaboration zone is also key – it offers not only the possibility of uninterrupted calls from phone booths, the use of hot-desking principles, but also different types and sizes of meeting rooms, from formal to alternative, for example library-style,” Stára adds.

Design that tells the brand story

The interior of the offices reflects the new corporate identity of Servier, especially after its rebranding “Servier: Moved by You” and the addition of orange to the traditional blue logo. The logo and overall brand approach is thus reflected not only in the minimalist design with clean lines, but also in the playful colour accents in the form of orange lights, blue ceilings and seating. The line of light that winds through the entire ceiling space symbolises the movement and dynamism of the brand.

“We also worked with the architects on details such as the meeting room wraps inspired by our logo, the wooden partitions and floors in some zones, or the decorations chosen by the Servier staff to brighten up the space. The result is offices that feel ‘like home’ and support the well-being of all employees,” explains Věra Vedlichová, HR Director at Servier.

Everything for the comfort of employees

The space is designed with nature and technological gadgets in mind. The biophilia concept brings in a variety of plant species, while acoustic lights and other acoustic elements in corporate colors ensure tranquility even in an open environment. The offices also offer functional details such as privacy corners, storage spaces with discreet handles, and a kitchenette separate from the work areas.

The architectural team Interior, led by Martin Stára and Markéta Michálková, participated in the project in the Perspektiv studio. The design of the space, including the concept of biophilia and details, was created in collaboration with Servier employees, the general contractor Brick and the Vitra brand, which supplied the furniture.

“The Servier offices show that even downsizing can be an opportunity to create an inspiring space. We managed to find a model that meets global workplace standards while respecting local specifics and high demands for employee satisfaction,” concludes Martin Stára.
