About project

The main inspiration for the design of the Jílovska school is the surroundings. We are designing the garden in which the school is located. The new building does not exceed the scale of the surrounding houses set in gardens, yet it offers enough space for almost 600 students. The exterior is in synergy with the interior. The design of the landscape design of the Jílovska school campus and adjacent areas is based on the harmonious connection of the school with the surrounding nature and diverse public spaces. The overall concept creates a space that serves both educational and social purposes, and is accessible to the general public.

The architectural form of the school is designed with an emphasis on functional arrangement, which gives rise to recessed rectangular masses directed towards the center. The newly designed school is conceived as a wooden structure, while the underground part with the gym is designed in reinforced concrete. These masses are combined into a single, very functional building, which allows for maximum connection of the interior spaces with the exterior. Most of the interior spaces have direct access to the school garden, which supports their usability and contact with the natural environment. The simple and functional form thus perfectly meets the needs of the students. The school is naturally connected to the green axis, which connects the various parts of the campus. The interior of the school organically blends with the exterior, with each outdoor zone having its own specific function.

Diagram

The form of the Jílovska school is based on a functional scheme of three floors. The first floor serves as the main common area, where the dining room, auditorium, library, kitchen, locker rooms, club, preschoolers, locker rooms, bistro and also spaces that have access from the exterior independently of the school and can thus function independently even after school is closed (school club, art education, gym, club, bistro, kindergarten) are located. All of these spaces also have their own entrance to the garden. The second floor above ground is home to the main part of the classrooms. The third floor above ground houses the specialist classes, which are also complemented by access to the exterior garden.
