About project

The high-speed terminal Hranice na Moravě will become a new city station in the future. We are proposing a terminal that is linked by its identity to the city of Hranice na Moravě and becomes not only a railway station, but also a link between the southern and northern parts of the city and its future development. A place offering a different experience when arriving by bike or car or by public transport.

The Hranice na Moravě terminal brings a unique connection between the city and the world, and in the future almost 10,000 passengers a day are expected to pass through this place. This is matched by the orientationally simple concept of the passage, complemented by a generous entrance hall. The concourse is located behind the existing branch line, which today creates a barrier in the area. In the future, on the other hand, it may function as a unique entrance to the terminal, whose aesthetics will be linked to the cultural monument of the viaduct near the station, a place already intrinsically linked to the town of Hranice na Moravě.

The design of the terminal and its surroundings is based on the existing solitary scattered urban structure and its scale. The Hranice na Moravě terminal is divided, including the bus station, into several smaller parts so that its scale and the relationship of the smaller masses fit sensitively into its surroundings and can define its intermediate spaces. Out of respect for the history of the place and the contemporary character of the city, a new terminal is being created, which becomes a new dynamic point of the city. The new railway station will become a key element of the city’s infrastructure, strategically located to ensure seamless transport and facilitate the mobility of residents and visitors. A greenway (rail embankment) is proposed around the railway line, linking the city by pedestrian and cycle paths. These paths do not cross each other and orientationally support the simple logic of entering the station.

Diagram

The aesthetics of the new railway station in Hranice na Moravě sensitively follows the iconic viaduct, which is a characteristic element of the town and its panorama. The station, located between the main and branch lines, takes on the identity of the viaduct. Whether passengers are arriving, departing or just changing trains, they immediately feel a strong connection to the city and are aware of where they are. The strong identity of the new station serves as a calling card for the city and invites everyone to discover more.
