Pools and swimming pools are much more than just places for swimming – they are centres of social life, relaxation and sport. When designing them, we combine architecture with the landscape and urban environment so that they become a natural part of the surroundings. We design each project with functionality, long-term sustainability and aesthetic value in mind, respecting the character of the place. Our goal is to create spaces where people want to come together – whether it’s for a morning workout, an afternoon family swim, or an evening relaxing overlooking the surrounding countryside. We see pools and swimming pools as public places that are meant to serve the community as well as the sport.
Connecting architecture, nature and technology
Well-designed pools and swimming pools require a sensitive approach to the urban or natural context. Our solutions are always based on the environment – from landforms and landscape character to local traditions. Architecture is a means for us to enhance the water experience and create a harmonious connection between indoor spaces, outdoor areas and the surrounding nature. We design technological facilities with an emphasis on efficiency, renewable resources and the longevity of the buildings. Optimizing operating costs goes hand in hand with sustainable materials and quality craftsmanship details.
Functionality and operational logic
In the design of swimming pools and spas, it is not only how the building looks, but also how it functions that is key. We think carefully about the operational links between changing rooms, entrances, pool halls, wellness areas and outdoor spaces. We focus on clarity and intuitive visitor orientation. We often add recreational and relaxation areas to outdoor swimming pools to extend the season and encourage year-round use of the facility.
Space for community and individuals
We believe that pools and swimming pools should be places where different generations meet. That’s why we combine sports facilities with relaxation areas, playgrounds and open areas for cultural events. The architecture of the water structures does not stand out in our concept, but creates a harmonious framework for people’s activities. When working with public space, we look for ways to engage the surrounding community – whether through accessible sports facilities, cafes or leisure areas.
Inspiration from practice: Swimming pool in Havlíčkův Brod
An example of our approach is the swimming pool in Havlíčkův Brod, designed as an organic part of the city park. The mass of the building resembles a fossil – the impression is that the structure was discovered in the landscape, not artificially inserted. This concept is based on the idea that architecture should respect its surroundings and blend in. The urban design opens up the building towards the new square, while the form and scale respond to the urban fabric. Materially, the building combines a concrete plinth with wood cladding in the Shou Sugi Ban technique, which brings durability and aesthetic depth. The result is a space where sport, nature and social life come together.
Sustainability as standard
Today’s pools and swimming pools must not only be aesthetically pleasing and functional, but also have an ecological footprint. That’s why when designing, we choose technologies that reduce water and energy consumption, and materials that are long-lasting and have a low carbon footprint. Our projects often include green roofs, retention basins for rainwater harvesting or photovoltaic panels. The goal is to make aquatic structures as friendly to visitors as they are to the planet.
Architecture for the long term
For us, a successful project is not only beautiful when it opens, but also after decades of use. We design pools and swimming pools to be easy to maintain, adaptable and ready for future needs. This approach ensures that they become vibrant places for the long term – full of movement, joy and socialising.
