Spa: architecture of relaxation, health and urban identity

Spas are a unique type of public buildings that combine health, recreational and social dimensions. They are not only a place of rest, but also a symbol of urban culture and identity. When designing them, we put emphasis on making them a natural part of the urban whole and at the same time offering superior comfort for all visitors. In our projects, we seek a balance between functionality, aesthetics and sustainability, because we believe that quality spa architecture has the power to influence the health and lifestyle of an entire community.

Architecture for health and social life

Today, modern spas play more roles than ever before. They are a place for regeneration of the body, but also a place for meetings, cultural events and sporting activities. That’s why our designs combine classic healing and relaxation zones with swimming pools, wellness areas, saunas and sports halls. This creates buildings that are open all year round and appeal to a wide range of users – from patients to athletes to families with children.

Connection with the city and the countryside

We see each spa as part of a wider context. On an urban scale, we look for connections to transport infrastructure, natural pedestrian routes and nearby public spaces. In the landscape, we strive for harmonious integration into the surrounding environment – using natural materials, building orientation according to cardinal points and views of characteristic landscape landmarks. The architecture of the spa thus supports its natural function as a place of rest and regeneration.

Functionality and comfort

When designing, we place emphasis on intuitive orientation, logical traffic breakdown and visitor comfort. The spa must offer clearly separated zones for medical treatments, sports, relaxation and technical facilities, all with an emphasis on aesthetic appeal. We work with light, acoustics and quality materials that create a pleasant atmosphere while withstanding the demands of a humid and warm environment.

Sustainability and longevity

Nowadays, you cannot design a spa without considering energy efficiency and ecological footprint. We use technologies for heat recovery, water conservation and renewable energy. We design buildings to be easy to maintain and long-lasting and resistant to wear and tear. This allows them to retain their presentable character for decades.

A practical example: Krnov City Spa

One of our projects is the Municipal Spa Krnov, which we designed as an extension of the existing complex with a sports and relaxation area. The new part is smoothly connected to the sports infrastructure of the town along Petrovická Street and complements the completion of the summer swimming pool by Projektil studio. The design sensitively responds to the surrounding landscape near the Opavice River and emphasizes maximum comfort for users. The architectural expression of the building was conceived to become not only a functional facility, but also a visual symbol for the local community.

Spa as a part of place identity

A well-designed spa can significantly influence the perception of the entire site. They become a place where people return not only for the therapeutic effects but also for the overall atmosphere. Such architecture fosters a sense of belonging, attracts tourists and supports the local economy. When linked to cultural and social events, the spa acts as a real centre of city life.

Investing in the future

Designing a spa means creating a space that will become part of people’s everyday lives and the long-term development of the city. That is why we pay equal attention to aesthetic details and technical parameters. Our goal is that the resulting work not only serves well, but also retains its value and appeal for generations to come.
